Madison Avenue Road Widening Project in Rancho Cordova, California
Public Informational Meeting: December 4, 2017
The Krause & Kinsman Law Firm invites landowners who may be impacted by the Madison Avenue Road Widening Project to attend our public educational workshop on Monday, December 4 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott Sacramento Rancho Cordova.
The Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SACDOT) proposes to widen Madison Avenue from Sunrise Blvd. to Hazel Avenue. The proposed project includes widening for additional traffic lanes, new bicycle and pedestrian facilities, pavement rehabilitation and resurfacing, raised landscaped medians, intersection and traffic signal modifications, and more.
The purpose of this project is to improve operational safety and access availability. Unfortunately, it is anticipated that private property will be acquired to complete the project.
Krause & Kinsman attorney Adam Krause will discuss the eminent domain process in California and how landowners can better prepare for an eminent domain taking. Adam will highlight how property owners impacted by the project may be eligible for additional compensation from the condemning authority. He will also be available to answer any questions or concerns residential and business owners may have.
Some inquiries that may be discussed during the seminar include:
- Can the government take my private property by eminent domain for any reason?
- What is eminent domain?
- Should I discuss the value of my property with a government representative?
- How will the taking impact my home or business?
- Should I assume the government will treat me justly under eminent domain law?
If you are concerned that your property is potentially at risk for acquisition, attend our public seminar tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott Sacramento Rancho Cordova.
