I-485 Express Lanes from I-77 to U.S. 74 in Matthews, NC
Public Informational Meeting: January 9, 2018
Join the Krause & Kinsman Law Firm at a landowner information meeting regarding the I-485 Express Lanes from I-77 to U.S. 74 on Tuesday, January 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Country Inn & Suites located at 2001 Mt. Harmony Church Road Matthews, NC 28104.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) proposes to add one express lane in each direction along I-485 from I-77 to U.S. 74 (Independence Boulevard) in Mecklenburg County. The project length is 17 miles.
The purpose of this project is to provide travel time reliability along I-485. This segment of I-485 carries between 65,000 and 112,000 vehicles per day and experiences congestion on a regular basis. The proposed express lanes will, in combination with improvements proposed on Independence Boulevard, give motorists the option of paying a fee for a reliable trip time on I-485 between I-77 and U.S. 74.
Meet Krause & Kinsman attorney David Needham at our public information session tonight. David will discuss the importance of landowner rights and will provide a status update on the project. Property owners can see what is forthcoming and will have the opportunity to learn how their property may be impacted.
Some topics that may be covered include:
- How can the government take privately owned property?
- Should I assume the government will treat me justly under eminent domain law?
- Can I hire my own appraiser to assess my property?
- Can a landowner prevent his or her property from being taken by the government?
- What if a property owner doesn’t accept the offer made by the land acquisition agent?
Landowners will learn how an eminent domain lawyer on their side can help protect their private property rights. To RSVP, please contact Karmyn Janes at firstname.lastname@example.org.
